WELCOME TO SIMPLY VEINS

Affordable varicose vein treatment around half the normal cost

Troublesome varicose veins? Are your legs puffy and ache at the end of the day? Our modern varicose vein treatments are quick, easy and affordable – they’re close to half what you would normally expect to pay for private treatments.

Refer yourself or your GP can refer you. There’s no operation, low-level discomfort and little down time – you walk in and walk out again.

Our registered vascular surgeon performs the procedure and oversees all of your care. Your consultation and follow up are with a specialist varicose veins nurse.

OUR 5-STEP PROCESS

Here’s how it works…

step 1

STEP 1: START YOUR ONLINE CONSULTATION

This form gives us all the information we need before your varicose vein treatment.

step 2

STEP 2: TAKE PHOTOS OF YOUR LEGS

We’ll need to see both of your legs, standing, front and back, thighs and calves, even if you think one leg is okay. Use a smartphone to send us your photos. Once you’ve submitted the online consultation, and your photos, our specialist varicose veins nurse will be in touch to discuss your varicose vein problem with you and to book you in if you’re happy to have treatment.

step 3

STEP 3: PRE-TREATMENT DAY

A nurse will call you the week before your procedure and answer any questions or concerns you may have, as well as give advice of what to do on your treatment day. We’ll send you a text reminder.

step 4

STEP 4: YOUR TREATMENT DAY

You can eat and drink prior to your procedure. Allow around an hour and a half (plenty of free parking) to cover: a consultation with our vascular surgeon, giving your consent for treatment, having an ultrasound scan, your treatment, performed by our vascular surgeon, and a short recovery period afterwards.

step 5

STEP 5: AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

You will be fitted with compression stockings, which you’ll need to wear for 10 days straight – even in the shower (we’ll give you a waterproof cover). You can resume activity pretty much straight away. Our specialist varicose veins nurse will contact you a couple of days after your procedure to answer any questions and again six weeks later.

YOUR SPECIALIST VARICOSE VEINS TEAM

Please start your online consultation, include photos of your varicose veins, and submit. Our specialist vein nurse will be in touch to discuss your varicose vein problem and to book your treatment day.

Our treatment is quick and easy, with low-level discomfort. You will be given a small, local injection, which feels like a scratch. During the procedure most patients feel only slight pressure when the vein specialist seals off the vein – not so much as a plaster is needed after. It’s normal to have some lumps and/or bruises over the treated veins. These subside over the next 6-12 weeks.

Our prices are about half what you would normally expect to pay. We offer payment options qcard.

If you’ve submitted our online consultation, with photos of your legs, our specialist vein nurse will be in touch within 24 hours. We’ll book you in for your treatment day usually within the month, if that suits.

Our nurses are specialist varicose vein nurses and experienced in advising about the varicose vein treatment we offer and will be your first contact. Your treatment will be performed by a Royal Australasian College of Surgeons registered vascular specialist, who will also oversee all of your care.

Your treatment will be performed by a Royal Australasian College of Surgeons registered vascular specialist. Your consultation and follow ups will be with our specialist vein nurse. If the specialist needs to see you, there will be no extra charge for this.

If you have tired, puffy or aching legs, bulging veins, a history of blood clots or bleeding or your parents have varicose veins, chances are you have varicose veins. You may not even be able to see them. Our advice is the sooner you get treatment the better the outcome. Varicose veins do not go away on their own. Please complete our health form and our specialist vein nurse will be in touch to discuss your vein problem then you can decide whether to go ahead with treatment.

The time it takes for your procedure depends on whether you need both legs treated and the condition of your veins. It can be as little as 15 minutes. We say allow a good hour and a half to cover having an ultrasound scan, a chat with our varicose vein nurse giving your consent for treatment, having your treatment and a short recovery period.

We recommend taking it easy the next day but that’s all. You can resume activity pretty much straight away – but nothing too strenuous. It’s best to avoid swimming or hot tubs for a couple of weeks.

It’s important that you wear your compression stockings for 10 days, 24/7, even in the shower (we’ll give you a cover to wear in the shower). Wearing the compression stockings helps ensure the best outcome from your treatment.

First the vascular specialist will take an ultrasound (scan) of your leg or legs. He then uses a medical adhesive to seal off the problem vein. After a small, local injection, a thin tube (catheter) is inserted in the vein, then tiny pinhead amounts of adhesive are dispensed at intervals along the vein. The specialist monitors the procedure on the ultrasound machine. He then puts pressure along the vein to seal it. The vein is eventually absorbed. Next you’ll be fitted with compression stockings to wear for 10 days. Our nurse will contact you a couple of days after your procedure to answer any questions and check in again six weeks later.

You can drive afterwards but you may prefer to have someone collect you. You are welcome to bring a support person with you who is welcome to wait in the waiting room for you. We maintain a sterile environment during the procedure so this means they can’t be in the actual procedure room.

Sclerotherapy injections are more suitable for smaller veins. The sealant is injected directly into these small veins, making the walls stick together. They are often used in conjunction with varicose vein treatment when smaller veins become more visible after the larger veins have faded. Our specialist will recommend what treatment is best for you.
